Australian Print Workshop (APW) is a national centre for contemporary printmaking; where artists, ideas and technical print excellence converge. Founded in 1981, APW is a vibrant non-profit arts organisation renowned for ambitious artist-led print innovation. APW champions printmaking as a bold, accessible and contemporary artform in Australia and beyond. Renowned for artistic excellence and innovation, APW drives ambitious creative partnerships that expand print-based work through landmark artist projects, exhibitions, international initiatives, commissions, training and community programs. Through its comprehensive program of commissions, scholarships, fellowships, residencies and studio access, APW supports artists at every career stage to develop their practice to realise bold creative ideas in print.

APW’s programs open contemporary printmaking to diverse artists, communities and audiences; inviting them to create, present, learn and participate. Collaborating with leading contemporary Australian artists, APW produces original prints celebrated for their ambition, quality, innovation and cultural impact across Australia and internationally. Prints produced at APW are represented in major public collections across Australia and internationally, including the Australian National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, The British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum – to name just a few.

With purpose-designed studios, specialist presses and a team of expert printers and print specialist staff, APW is a world-class hub for contemporary printmaking, offering a unique and inspiring creative environment for artists and visitors alike. From its landmark home on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, APW continues to nurture artistic talent, champion printmaking and share new work with the public.
